Nike SB Release Gato In "University Red/White"

Once more borrowing the soccer-silhouette for the skating world, Nike SB have released the Gato in a “University Red/White” colourway, merging the worlds of football and skateboarding for a look that’s reminiscent of the Supreme x Nike collaboration from last year.

The Gato has enjoyed a bit of a renaissance of late, with the return of the Lunar Gato II being joined by a selection of different colourways of the popular sneaker. The hugely popular Supreme x Nike hook up saw four colour options drop in August 2018, one of which was red, and it appears like this latest release for the football-meets-skateboard model has drawn influence from that look.

The “University Red” base is broken up only by the clean white Swoosh, heel branding and Cushlon-foam midsole, and it all strides in on a gum rubber outsole that’s finished with a geometric hexagonal tread. A touch of suede around the toe area adds another level of varied texture that also links it back to classic football shoes of the past.
